Chocolate Maker's Kit
Our Chocolate Maker's kit includes 1 kilo (approx. 2.2 lbs) of cocoa beans, 500 grams (1.1 pounds) roasted cocoa nibs, 1 whole pod and 1 open pod empty. Beans are fully fermented and can be roasted and peeled for eating raw or grinding into chocolate paste for tasting. Nibs can be eaten raw, used in smoothies, muffins, baked goods, and granola, or ground for chocolate. We recommend roasting the beans at a minimum 225 F for at least 20 minutes to kill off possible bacteria.
- Beans and nibs to make chocolate with
- Whole and open pod to see where chocolate comes from
- Premier quality nibs from Ecuador for snacking, baked goods, smoothies, and granola
- Best price buying items together
We recommend you do not grind beans or nibs in a blender or food processor as beans are too hard and will burn out your motor. They can be ground in a lab grinder or placed in a stone mill or melangeur to make chocolate paste.
Save by buying this kit instead of buying the items separately! Our best value and top seller.
Educational cocoa kit
Posted by Brenda on 17th May 2016
My grade 7 students enjoyed the opportunity to touch, smell and taste the pods and beans. We had just finished our chocolate unit when the pkg arrived in the mail. The pods were bigger than we had read about. They were packaged in Spanish newspaper which our Spanish teacher enjoyed. It would be helpful to us -- since it was tagged as an educational kit -- to have a bit of information about where the pods & beans come from, even if it's only a map with a dot designating the place. We guessed Ecuador because of the paper but we could be wrong. Also knowing which kind of tree the pods & beans came from would be good too. Still it was really neat to hold something so exotic. I will no doubt order another kit next year.
You know beans about chocolate!

This product arrived on time and exactly as promised. When we opened the box, it was impossible not to touch and examine the pods; they are so interesting-the whole pod with the beans intact works great as a rain stick for making music. This set will work quite well as a teaching set for the project my daughter is doing in school.
